Every Friday is a pressure test for directors, actors and producers as Bollywood biggies battle to get ahead of each other. Last week, two big Bollywood movies released, and as everyone expected, ‘D-Day’ has struck out ‘Ramaiya Vastavaiya’ in all departments, and most importantly, at the Box Office.
Though no stones had been left unturned to promote the movies, Nikhil Advani’s ‘D-Day’ always had an upper hand over ‘Ramaiya Vastavaiya’ with regards to script and star cast. What worked for ‘D-Day’ apart from a strong script and brilliant actors, was the subject of the film. It connected with audience on the emotional front, as the dream of every Indian has been depicted in the movie. This has been one of the major factors, which set the cash register ringing at the Box Office.
Apart from the audience, ‘D-Day’ also managed to impress the film critics as compared to its counterpart. Looking at the box office collections one can easily say that Nikhil Advani’s ‘D-Day’ has left ‘Ramaiya Vastavaiya’ far behind and if sources are to be believed, “‘Ramaiya Vastavaiya’ is the same old love story with a touch of Prabhu Deva.” In fact, if rumours are to be believed, ‘Ramaiya Vastavaiya’ might be getting pulled off the screens, starting Monday. While, on the other hand, ‘D-Day’ is still going strong in terms of box office numbers.
